November 2008 - long overdue newsflash...

No pictures for this post...only words. And, in Dave's words to our families a couple of weeks ago, "it's a boy". Like they said, you may be saying, "What's a boy?"

Yep, next March, another Burgess is due. Not sure how to spread the word from across the ocean, but hopefully this will work.

October 30, 31 - Parties, Snow, Halloween

Late on October 29th, it started snowing. It was dark here, but we couldn't resist checking it out. Kacey was in her PJ's running outside and screaming at the top of her lungs, "I LOVE WINTER!"
After having snow plows/trucks wake me up 3 times, I got up to this the next morning ... it was 6 or so inches.

Fortunately, people take care of me over here... Marti had just loaned me Charlie's snow clothes from last year, so we put those on Cambelle.
Then went out to play.
"I can't believe mom put me in all these boy clothes, THEN takes my picture! I refuse to look happy in these clothes."

School had a 'Fall Party' on October 30. Being American's, the Canadian director couldn't believe we didn't wear costumes to last year's party..it was on October 31. So this year, the costumes went to the party.

They couldn't believe we wore costumes on October 30... it's not Halloween. So, our kids and the Billington's kids were the only ones in costumes, but they didn't care. Snow White wouldn't have had it any other way.

And Buzz was just happy to not have on snow clothes!

"I'm not smiling if I can't wear my princess shoes...snow or no snow."

And parties are the best...I get to play with the big kid toys instead of all the 'baby stuff.'

Charlie had the dual purpose costume ... celebrating Halloween AND making a political statement... and at such a young age!

A view of Sam the Turtle.

October 30 was the BIG 2-7 for Katie...but we celebrated on the 31st. She and Tom came in costume. (You can see from these pictures that our kids really don't care for Tom and Katie and vice versa.)

Yes, Kacey and I are Martha Stewart's at heart. (See my house and you'll know the opposite it true.) But, somehow this cake worked out. Long story as to why flip flops, but cute huh?

Halloween toe socks...I'm so jealous!

October - Package from Gram, Cows, Park,

Weather here hasn't been good for more than 2 weeks...except for one brief afternoon of sunshine. So we headed to the park... and found a surprise on the path to get there.

Some cows had been located in the fields that we walk by to get to the park. Friendly cows, at that...

Gram generously shipped over a lot of stuff...including these halloween outfits. Couldn't click enough pictures of them in these...

October - Fribourg Halloween, Cookies

We made Halloween cookies with Katie, thanks to the sprinkles and supplies that the Duma's sent over to us. Trust me, they tasted better than they looked. Wait, they look pretty good, too!

Thanks Kate!!

Cambelle found the Halloween sprinkles the next morning...while mom was on her computer. Yeah, I thought it had been really quiet for a little too long...and this was what I found. So Cambelle also says, "Thanks, Kate."

The girls were 'twins' as Kacey said... dressed to go find out what was happening in downtown Fribourg..it was some kind of Halloween thing. The language barriers makes all new outtings a big mystery...

...Marti's neighbor had taken her to the "Halloween thing", which is how we heard of it. Because of the language barrier, all she knew was to basically just follow the witches hats and look for a castle to play in...it worked for us. We walked all over the 'Old Town' and found lots of entertaining sights that can only be described in pictures...
